Medicare provides a rebate for 12 sessions per calender year. You will need to see your GP for a "MENTAl HEALTH CARE PLAN" before you can make claims. It is also best to see your GP for this plan first, before making your initial appointment to see a psychologist.
Depending on your level of health cover and
provider, Private Health Funds also provide
rebates for psychological services. They often
rebate $40-$50 per session. You will need to
check with your Private Health Fund first to
see if they cover such services and to make a
claim you will need to mail or personally hand
in the invoice and receipt you receive into
one of their retail stores.
To see what sort of rebates
you may be able to claim visit our
Q&A Section here.
